uHear app for iPhone and iPad
Do you or someone you know think you have a hearing loss? Often times it is difficult to tell because hearing loss usually occurs gradually such that the person is not aware of it.
uHearTM is a screening tool which allows you to test your hearing to determine if it is within normal range, or if you have a potential hearing loss.
uHear allows you assess your hearing in less than 5 minutes, on any one or all three of these easy tests:
1. Hearing Sensitivity is allows you to test your hearing to determine if it is within the normal range.
2. Speech in Noise is a measurement of your ability to understand speech in noisy environments.
3. Questionnaire is a series of questions regarding your hearing ability in common listening situations.
This test is not intended to replace the rigorous testing that is offered by a hearing healthcare professional. If you do suspect a hearing loss, please consider seeking the advice of a qualified professional.
uHear was designed by Donald Hayes, Ph.D. Director of Clinical Research for Unitron
Test yourself! Test your kids! Test your parents and grandparents!
***** IMPORTANT NOTE FOR uHear 1.0 USERS
Please note architectural changes were required during the migration of uHear to the new operating system. These changes have rendered it impossible to retain test results that were saved by uHear 1.0 and display them in uHear 2.0. uHear is intended to be a quick hearing screening tool to help people determine if they should seek further treatment from a qualified hearing healthcare professional. Results obtained using the tone test are not a substitute for a valid hearing test under the supervision of a trained professional in a controlled environment.
Pros and cons of uHear app for iPhone and iPad
uHear app good for
I really enjoyed the tests. And also is very educational, because explains how the test works. Worth downloading!
This app is very accurate and easy to use, definetely best hearing test in the app store! Its very well designed.
This is a very useful piece of software and it is incredibly intuitive and easy to use. I just downloaded it and I used it to test myself, my wife, my kids and my mom (who is 71). This is such an excellent idea because most people are too embarrassed to get their hearing tested. With this application, they can get it tested privately and still get professional results. Everyone I tested had no idea what their results would be. Getting immediate feedback is awesome.
The feature to find a local health care professional is great. Recognition of the problem is the first step. Finding a local practitioner makes it easier for people to actually take action.
Developing this app on the ipod/iphone platform is clever because well be encouraged to take better care of our hearing.
Buy this app and get your loved ones tested!
This app is so wonderful I really appreciate the fact that its free so everyone can use it. My result shows my hearing is fairly good but the only thing is I dont understand why I got a poor score for the questionaire(like 15)... I understand compare to the 1st and 2nd test the questionaire is less indirect but why the results are so different?
Rly amazing now I worry more about my hearing thx for the app
This is a cool app, I would like to see more test though. Im sure there are more.
Some bad moments
Get to step 4 and it is blanked out.
No option to start the test.
After setting the volume I cant select if Im using earbuds or headphones. Test does not start. Will be downloading a different app.
I cant even start the test as step 4 is greyed out.
The app crashes when I press the red volume marker in step 3 as well.
Not sure if tapping this is suppose to set your volume automatically, but something is broken there.
Cool concept though. Too bad its not working for me.
Wont let me select type of headphones or start test. Very disappointing.
No option to start test. Cant adjust volume or select headphones.
I downloaded the app on the advice of a doctor who raved about it. He tried to show it to me at his office but couldnt get it to work. I downloaded it and cant get it to work either. Same problem reported by others where it doesnt detect earbuds. There seems to be a bug that needs fixing.
